Project Management is defined as the overall planning, co-ordination and control of a development from inception to completion and disposal, aimed at meeting a client’s requirement to produce a functionally and financially viable development that will be completed on time, within authorized budget, and to required standards (quality).
Project management separates the management functions of a development from its design and construction functions. The ability to lead and motivate participants in a project is a key skill required by the project manager. Management duty/function is one of the traits the estate surveyor must and does have; an example being our property management duty where we manage and maintain not just the building fabric but also the occupants/end-users. People management is a skill and art that needs to be revered.
Also, the estate surveyor is able to perform this role because of our detailed knowledge of the property market and give expert advice on the dynamic economics involved in all aspects of the development process.
